Terms and Conditions
1. Operator, agreement and related policies
SocialGryd is a product name for a service under development; it is not currently an incorporated company. Julian Nevin, trading as SocialGryd, with correspondence at 61 Bridge Street, Kington, HR5 3DJ, United Kingdom is the operator and, for personal data handled for its own purposes, the responsible organisation or data controller. Contact legal@socialgryd.com for privacy matters and support@socialgryd.com for support.
The website also displays information and safety notices for visitors who do not register. Mere browsing does not by itself establish that a visitor expressly agreed to contractual exclusions.
These Terms apply to the website, mobile app and related SocialGryd services. You accept them when you expressly agree during registration or a notified terms update. They incorporate our Community Guidelines, Acceptable Use Policy and Child Safety Standards. The Privacy Policy, Cookie Policy and AI Notice explain data practices. Accepting these Terms does not replace any separate consent required for health data, AI processing, marketing or device access.
2. Eligibility and accounts
The minimum account age is 16, including for the Singapore pilot. Our service minimum is 18 in Brazil, India and South Korea, and 17 in Indonesia; any higher applicable legal requirement also applies. These are account eligibility rules, not a claim about each country's age of adulthood. We do not currently offer a parental-consent exception to those minimums. Where you are old enough to use the Service but cannot legally enter this agreement independently, a parent or legal guardian must agree on your behalf as required by applicable law.
AI food estimates and AI coaching are restricted to adults aged 18 or over during beta. We do not offer a guardian-consent exception for these beta features. An account without a date of birth confirming eligibility cannot use them. These checks rely on the supplied date of birth and are not independent identity verification.
Provide accurate information and protect your credentials. Age is assessed from information supplied by the user. Email verification confirms access to an email address; it is not identity, age, background, qualification or medical verification. Do not impersonate someone, evade a ban or use another person's account.
3. What the Service does
SocialGryd provides general fitness, recreation and community tools: meal and nutrition estimates, workout logging and AI planning, activity and step tracking, GPS activity records, progress charts, challenges and leaderboards, posts and messages, groups and club or business pages, event discovery and Train Together sessions. Availability varies by release, device and location. The website's guides and calculators have the same fitness and nutrition limitations as the app.
Beta availability and limitations
The beta is an early release. Features, estimates, scores and records may contain errors, be interrupted or change. Beta access does not promise continued free access, future availability or a particular launch date. Keep an independent copy of information you need. We will explain material changes and, where reasonably practicable, give notice and an opportunity to export before a planned closure or data reset. Urgent security or safety action may happen sooner. These limitations do not remove our duties to protect personal data or any mandatory consumer, refund or other rights.
Participation and feedback are voluntary. Do not include other people's private information in feedback. You permit us to use suggestions to improve the service without payment; this does not transfer ownership of your diary or authorise marketing use of your identity. We will obtain separate permission before using an identifiable testimonial.
Access is not currently restricted to Singapore. Access elsewhere is subject to applicable local law and these Terms, not a statement that every country has approved the service.
4. Exercise safety and acknowledgement of risk
Exercise, training, travel to activities and meeting others carry risks, including serious injury, illness, permanent disability and death. AI-generated exercises, loads, schedules and progressions may be wrong or unsuitable. SocialGryd cannot assess your physical condition, examine you, supervise your technique or provide medical clearance. A completed questionnaire or apparently personalised plan does not establish that an activity is safe.
Participate voluntarily and only within your abilities and safe limits. Check each exercise, equipment, route, venue and environment; use appropriate technique and supervision. Follow your doctor's or other qualified clinician's advice and restrictions, including for existing conditions, medication, injury, pregnancy or recovery. Do not begin or continue if uncertain about safety; seek qualified advice first. Stop if you experience pain, dizziness, faintness, chest pain, unusual breathlessness or other concerning symptoms. Heat, humidity, poor air quality, traffic and water present additional risks. Never let a plan, reminder, streak, ranking or another participant pressure you to continue.
You acknowledge the inherent risks of activities you freely choose and are responsible for reasonable safety precautions. This acknowledgement does not waive a claim for our negligence or any non-excludable duty; Section 17 governs liability. For an emergency in Singapore call 995 for emergency ambulance/fire or 999 for police; elsewhere use local emergency services. The app and its inboxes are not emergency monitoring or rescue services.
5. Food logging, nutrition and AI limitations
Calories, macronutrients, energy expenditure, portions, targets and other calculations are estimates for general information. Images, barcode databases, search results and user entries can be incomplete, outdated or incorrect. AI can invent details and produce confident but inaccurate results. It cannot reliably determine hidden ingredients, contamination, allergens, food safety or interactions with medication. Check packaging and reliable information; consult a qualified professional for personal dietary needs.
SocialGryd does not provide a doctor, dietitian or professional nutrition service. Its intended purpose is general fitness and information, not medical diagnosis or treatment. Do not use its outputs to diagnose, treat or manage a condition, calculate medication or insulin doses, decide whether an allergen is safe, or replace clinical advice. Do not consume something unsafe, skip needed meals, withhold nourishment, dehydrate, purge, overexercise or adopt extreme calorie restriction to meet a number in the app. Estimates of calories burned are not instructions about how much to eat. If logging worsens distress or disordered eating, stop using that feature and seek appropriate support.
Our AI Notice describes the information used to generate estimates and plans. Review outputs before use; you may correct or ignore them. We do not guarantee any health, weight, body composition, performance or other result.
6. GPS, maps and location sharing
Location features use device permission. Activity recording may continue in the background during a recording session where your device permits it. Stop recording or change device permissions to stop further tracking. Revoking permission does not delete saved activities; delete those separately. GPS, maps, distance and pace can be inaccurate and are not safety, navigation or emergency guarantees. Do not trespass or use the app in a way that distracts you from traffic or hazards.
Saved routes are processed through our cloud services. Maps and place searches also involve mapping providers. Private route storage is different from publishing a route, sharing a workout card or posting a meeting point. Check the audience before sharing: locations and screenshots can reveal your home or routine. See the Privacy Policy for recipients and controls.
7. Train Together, groups, clubs and businesses
Train Together and similar session-sharing features help users find and communicate with others. A listing, account, club, group, business page, badge or administrative approval is not a guarantee of identity, qualifications, professional certification, safeguarding checks, insurance, venue suitability or personal safety. User accounts are not independently identity-verified. SocialGryd does not supervise user-organised activities or act as their coach, organiser, employer, agent or insurer merely by providing these tools.
Assess the person, organiser and activity independently. Meet in an appropriate public place, tell someone you trust your plans, arrange your own safe transport and avoid revealing a home address or sensitive routine. Do not send money or documents to an untrusted person. You may decline, leave, block or report an interaction. Young users need particular care and appropriate responsible-adult involvement; eligibility to hold an account is not permission to attend an unsupervised activity.
Administrators and organisers must have authority to represent a club or business, describe qualifications and affiliations honestly, obtain required permissions and insurance, comply with venue and safety requirements, explain risks and accessibility limits, and disclose their prices, cancellation and refund rules. They must respect users' privacy, use member information only for notified lawful purposes, and obtain any required consent for marketing, photography or sharing. Joining a group does not authorise access to someone's private food diary, medical information or routes. The organiser duties in this section are part of these Terms. The Organiser Terms provide additional detail and apply when you expressly accept them; a link alone does not establish acceptance of additional contractual obligations.
8. Challenges, leaderboards and rewards
Challenges, points, badges, streaks and leaderboards are for recreation and motivation. They are not medical recommendations or verified measures of fitness, health or personal worth. Data can be self-reported, estimated, delayed or incorrect. Do not enter an unsuitable challenge, compete through pain or illness, manipulate records, or pressure others into dangerous behaviour. Resting, modifying an activity or withdrawing is always acceptable.
No prize, payment or financial value is promised unless separate published promotion rules expressly provide it. Sponsored or prize-bearing promotions require their own eligibility, judging, prize and cancellation terms. We may correct scores or remove fraudulent participation, with an opportunity to raise a mistake through support. Shared leaderboards display the participation information explained when you join.
9. Content ownership and permission
You retain ownership of your content. You grant SocialGryd a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to store, copy, format, transmit and display it as needed to operate the features you request, provide it to your chosen audience, and keep the Service secure. Providers may process it for those purposes. You must have permission to upload other people's images or information. This licence does not authorise selling your private diary or using it to train general-purpose foundation models.
The licence ends when content is removed from active systems, except for necessary legal or safety retention and the provider deletion cycles described in the Privacy Policy. Copies, messages or shared contributions already received by others may remain with them. Do not upload information you are not entitled to disclose.
10. Misuse, moderation and appeals
Harassment, threats, hate, stalking, sexual exploitation, abusive behaviour, scams, impersonation, doxing, dangerous challenges, promotion of eating disorders, intellectual-property infringement, spam and unauthorised access are prohibited. These rules apply to posts, messages, sessions, groups and club or business activity. Follow the Community Guidelines and Acceptable Use Policy.
We may remove or restrict content, limit visibility, suspend features or delete accounts for serious or repeated misuse, unlawful conduct, security risks or danger to users. Urgent protective action may occur before notice. We use automated checks and review; neither detects every problem. Report through the app or report@socialgryd.com. Challenge a decision by replying to its notice or emailing support@socialgryd.com with the relevant account/content reference and reasons. We provide reasons and review where required, subject to lawful safety and confidentiality limits. Mandatory legal complaint and court routes remain available.
11. Paid services and third-party transactions
If paid features are offered, their price, currency, billing period, renewal, trial, cancellation and included features must be shown before purchase. Store purchases are subject to the relevant Apple or Google billing process and mandatory consumer rights. Where auto-renewal is disclosed and accepted, cancel through the store before the next renewal deadline stated there. Deleting the app or account does not by itself cancel a store subscription.
Payments to an independent organiser, venue or external ticket seller are governed by that seller's disclosed terms. A link or listing does not make SocialGryd the seller. Nothing here excludes mandatory refund, cancellation, fair-trading or other consumer rights.
12. Providers and external services
Cloud, AI, mapping, media and diagnostic services help operate SocialGryd; the Provider Register describes them. External services you choose, such as sign-in, navigation or ticket websites, have their own terms. Listing a provider's terms does not transfer SocialGryd's own responsibilities to that provider or require you to waive privacy rights.
13. SocialGryd intellectual property
We and our licensors retain rights in the software, branding and original materials, excluding user-owned content. You receive a limited right to use the Service under these Terms. Do not sell, copy, exploit or bypass the Service except with permission or as mandatory law permits.
14. Availability and changes to features
The pilot may have errors, interruptions or changing features. Back up information important to you. We may maintain, alter or retire features, while respecting notice, refund and other rights for any paid service. We do not guarantee continuous availability or that any estimate, route, plan, person or external content is suitable.
15. Ending your account
You may stop using SocialGryd and request deletion in the app or through Account Deletion. We may end access under Section 10. Retention of records needed for legal obligations, safety, disputes or enforcing a valid ban is described in the Privacy Policy and does not authorise indefinite retention of everything.
16. General-information disclaimer
Subject to mandatory rights, the Service is provided as available for general fitness and recreation. We do not warrant the accuracy of estimates or the suitability of an activity or another user's advice. These disclaimers do not remove a duty of reasonable care or other responsibility imposed by law.
17. Liability and mandatory protections
Nothing in these Terms excludes or restricts liability for death or personal injury resulting from negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any liability or remedy that cannot lawfully be excluded or restricted. This applies to every risk acknowledgement, disclaimer and limitation in these Terms and related policies.
Subject to that protection, you are responsible for your voluntary decisions, inaccurate information you provide and failure to follow reasonable safety instructions. We are not responsible for another person's independent conduct merely because you met through SocialGryd, but this does not exclude liability for our own breach of duty. We do not exclude foreseeable consumer loss caused by our breach or failure to exercise reasonable care where the law requires us to be responsible.
For business users only, and only to the extent lawful and reasonable, total contractual liability is limited to the greater of SGD 100 and fees paid to SocialGryd for the affected service in the preceding 12 months. The exclusions in the first paragraph always prevail. No user is required to indemnify us for our own negligence or non-excludable liability.
18. Changes to terms
We may revise these Terms as the Service or law changes. We identify each version and effective date and give reasonable advance notice of material changes, normally at least 30 days, except where an earlier safety or legal change is necessary. We seek fresh acceptance or separate consent where required. Changes do not retrospectively waive accrued rights or authorise a new sensitive-data use through silence. You may stop using the Service, request export and deletion, and use any applicable cancellation or refund rights.
19. Singapore law and disputes
These Terms are governed by Singapore law. Singapore courts have jurisdiction, subject to any mandatory right to bring a claim in another court and mandatory consumer protections where you live. Contact support@socialgryd.com to seek a resolution; this is not a bar to a complaint, urgent relief or a legal claim.
20. General and contact
If a provision is unenforceable, the rest remains effective where legally possible. A delay in enforcement is not a waiver. Any transfer to a future company must respect contractual and privacy obligations and be notified as required; incorporation does not retrospectively erase the current operator's responsibilities.
